Dr Mark Watling is a pharmaceutical physician with more than 18 years experience in clinical development and medical affairs. With a background in general practice, aviation and sports medicine, he entered the pharmaceutical industry in 1992 and spent six years working in contract research organisations (Til Occam, Quintiles) gaining experience in the design and implementation of clinical development programmes across many therapeutic areas.

From there, Mark moved into positions as European Medical Director at Cephalon, Head of Medical Partnership at Novo Nordisk and Group Medical Director at Archimedes Pharma, where he participated in and then led teams engaged in the development and approval of products focussed particularly in CNS / neurology, pain and critical care across the major markets. He was also responsible for medical support to their commercialisation through the development of in-house and contracted services such as medical liaison, medical information and pharmacovigilance.

Mark's broad experience in clinical development and medical affairs and their implementation in settings both large and small, allied to his general management experience, means he can make a flexible and hands-on contribution to the activities of a wide variety of organisations.
